The 73rd North Berwick Cup - Friday 6th to Sunday 8th September 2024

On Friday, we were delighted to welcome members and guests to The 73rd North Berwick Cup, a truly special and historic event in our calendar.

Friday’s welcome reception set the tone for the weekend, with sunshine, smiles, and a wonderful atmosphere of camaraderie. It was heartening to see familiar faces reconnect and new friendships form.

Saturday’s play continued under perfect weather conditions, showcasing some exceptional golf across Round 3 and the quarter-finals. Matches were closely contested, and the standard of play was outstanding.

In the Consolation Stableford, congratulations go to Jenni Ray and John Stewart, who successfully defended their title with a superb score of 42 points, securing this year’s Plate.

Sunday’s semi-finals were tightly fought, with Fraser Skene & Gwen Stewart and Bethany Cornish & Robbie Cornish progressing to the final. Despite more challenging afternoon conditions, both pairs delivered a fantastic display of golf. After a spirited and friendly match, Fraser Skene and Gwen Stewart prevailed with a 3&1 victory, successfully defending their title.

We extend our warmest congratulations to Fraser Skene and Gwen Stewart on winning The 73rd North Berwick Cup, and offer sincere thanks to all members, competitors and supporters who made this year’s event so memorable.

We are also grateful to East Lothian Council for their ongoing support of the event, and to Councillor Carol McFarlane, who kindly supported and joined our presentation party.

In addition, I would like to express my appreciation to the entire North Berwick team, whose efforts ensured the smooth and successful delivery of the event. Special thanks go to Kyle Cruickshank (Course Manager), Andrew Carson (Food and Beverage Manager), and Martyn Huish (Head of Golf and Head Professional), along with their teams, for working together to deliver every element of the weekend to the highest standard.
